The neighborhood of Seneca Gardens originally functioned as a hunting ground for indigenous Indian tribes along Beargrass Creek, a small waterway that runs through the city of Louisville. Various types of arrowheads and pottery have been found in multiple places on the land. The first building to be placed on this land after it was granted to Captain James Speed in 1780, was the Farmington Plantation, constructed in 1810. Speed’s grandson was close friends with Abraham Lincoln, who spent three weeks at Farmington in 1841 to quart Mary Todd and to recover from exhaustion. The Farmington Plantation was preserved by the Historical Homes Foundation in 1958. One of Seneca Garden’s most popular attractions is Seneca Park. Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead’s firm the 90-year-old park was recently renovated to include an 18-hole professional golf course, hiking trails, a 1.2-mile track, and mountain biking trails. The architecture is a mixture of Federal and Antebellum style architecture. Seneca Gardens offers an active community with easy access to all the Louisville community has to offer.

I can honestly not say enough good things about Martin Crane.
