George W. Norton, early investor and influencer in the T.V. and Broadcasting Domain, held a large amount of Farmland on the Jefferson-Oldham County border. In 1948 Norton put WAVE-TV, still a popular source of news today, on the air and simultaneously joined the NBC News Network. The farmland owned by Norton, who was also a large contributor to the agricultural community, remained so up until the 1980’s. In the 1980’s Norton's descendants sold the farm for development after its productivity dropped. Still developing today, Norton Commons is a thriving community within a community. One of Louisville’s newest and most attractive neighborhoods, Norton Commons is 600 acres of development with around 70 small businesses located near the town square. With its own firehall, YMCA, Doctors Office, Hair Salon, Boutiques, Dog Parks, Waking Trails, Putting Green, Lake, Ampitheatre, and many others you are bound to find all you need here. This neighborhood is also home to the only YMCA-School partnership in the state, in which the two are connected and the children have access to both a great education and a healthy lifestyle, which is incorporated into their school curriculum. I can honestly not say enough good things about Martin Crane.
