In 1829, the Louisville Public Schools were established in Kentucky for children under sixteen years of age and not long after the schools were expanded to reach more land area within the city until the late 1800’s. Host to almost 100,000 students, JCPS is the largest school district in the state of Kentucky and is represented by the states finest educators. The recently introduced Academies of Louisville help JCPS students by partnering them with local business for field and technical experience. These academies are features of their communities and provide opportunities for students to make a seamless transition into the workforce or college of their choice. They also offer sixty-six magnet programs with varying subjects, including MST and the Arts.
