Post-Revolutionary War many Pennsylvania Dutch came to Louisville area in search of permanent residence. These immigrants settled as close as they could to the newly constructed community Catholic churches, as this was their dominant religion. Thus, making the St. Therese Catholic Church a staple of the neighborhood. After the church’s establishment in 1906, its brilliant architecture has become the pride of Germantown and was recently placed on the National Register of Historical Places. Sandwiched between the Highlands and Old Louisville, Germantown has become a hub for community events. Germantown’s partnering neighborhood, Schnitzelberg, is host to the annual Germantown-Schnitzelberg Blues Festival which brings and influx of tourists and Louisville community residents to the area. The festival features local artists and donates a portion of its profits to the Kids Cancer Alliance. Schnitzelberg is known in Louisville for its traditional games of Dainty, which are played in the street. Schnitzelberg hosts the National World Dainty Championships ever year and takes pride in their small community. The architecture of these neighborhoods features mostly shotgun and camelback homes, with stone foundations and wooden frames. Germantown also includes a vibrant food scene, family friendly environment and is seeing an increase in younger residents.

I can honestly not say enough good things about Martin Crane.
