Located along LaGrange Road in the Eastern portion of Jefferson County, Anchorage is a city among the trees. Its Northwest boundary consists of land granted to Isaac Hite in 1773 for his service in the French and Indian War. Edward Dorsey Hobbs a businessman from Middletown drafted the original map of Anchorage and Captain Goslee who landed along the Ohio River twelve miles away gave the city its nautical name in 1869. The Captains original anchor still hangs in the middle of the neighborhood. Train service became available in 1901 and from then the neighborhood continued to develop for the next one hundred years. In 1914 Isaac Wolfe Bernheim commissioned the design of the neighborhood from Frederick Law Olmsted's Firm. The construction includes stone bridges, and triangle intersections, leaving space for greenery. Anchorage’s Historical District was placed on the National Register of Historical Places in 1982. Today Anchorage is the place to live in Louisville. It is home to some of the most historic and private living spaces. The close-knit community is a must for any family, and the neighborhood’s proximity to E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park, Shelbyville Road, the arts community, and Kentucky Bourbon experiences will keep you busy!

I can honestly not say enough good things about Martin Crane.
